A lampshade created using the traditional Japanese art of origami
and the traditional Japanese material, washi paper.
Light passing through washi becomes exceptionally soft,
gently enveloping the surrounding space.
Using Kyō-karakami, a decorative paper tradition passed down in Kyoto for generations,
each piece is carefully folded by Kyoto-based hyōgushi (traditional mounting artisans). The structure relies solely on folding techniques refined through long experience, without the use of wooden or metal frameworks.
